On my return trip from the island of Montserrat, I stayed overnight in Antigua at Connie's Comfort Suites. The shuttle to and from the airport was on-time and courteous. Connie's Comfort Suites is a newly built establishment catering to the needs of traveling visitors by providing a fully stocked kitchen with a stove and microwave. There is also a tv and a climate controlled air conditioning system. I found my stay to be relaxing, safe, quiet and reasonably priced for the accommodations! We got this fantastic new guesthouse/apartments through the tourist information upon arrival at the airport. It is very affordable compared with other places in St John's. Everything new, free laundry and Internet. Supermarket next door. The owner is very nice and helpful.

Recently, while having to overnight in Antigua...one of those necessary, in transit overnights en route from Montserrat to the U.S., I was blessed, for a change, with a GREAT place to stay! I had heard about Connie's Comfort Suites from guests staying at here at our place, Gingerbread Hill, in Montserrat. Our guests had spent a few days at Connie's and said it was really affordable and just what they needed. So ...I checked it out. And they were right! It is really affordable, and very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The suite I stayed in was tastefully decorated, and had more than I needed for one night's stay.

Connie's is owned and operated by Connie and her daughter, Shirmique, who had even arranged for a super nice taxi driver, Andy, to meet me at the airport and take me to Connie's, and pick me up in the morning to carry me back to the airport for my flight. Upon arrival, Shirmique and I chatted for over an hour, I think, comparing notes on our guest accommodations, etc... Her mum has a convenience store right next door, so it's truly "convenient." ;-) The Suites are within easy walking distance to Woods Centre for groceries, restaurant, and pharmacy, etc ...They've obviously taken much care and put a lot of love into building and furnishing these suites, and I wish them all the success possible.

I spent a great time with my mom at Connie's. It really felt like a home away from home. Though we had some problems at arrival,  (I arrived a day later than my mom due to flight overbooking) we were warmly received by our taxi driver arranged by Shirmique and her mom. Our room was as comfortable and well coordinated as the pictures we saw. Our hosts provided us with a topped up phone which we used to maintain contact with relatives abroad. They  also were very helpful in giving directions to tourist attractions, even arranging to drop off and pick up my mom at the St John Anglican Church when she was awaiting my arrival in Antigua.What I loved most about Connie's was the location, in close proximity to everything: a shopping mall, small shops, restaurants and downtown. We must return to go to the beach though. Three days is definitely not enough time to discover this beautiful island.
